Minerva is a haven for textile lovers

Minerva is a craft, fashion, textile and quilter's bookshop located in Cuba Street, Wellington.

The wonderful world of Wearable Arts has hit Wellington and for the next three weeks, the streets will be bustling with happy visitors. Yellow was the colour of the window competition this year so pop by and check out our strings of yellow cards. If you get close enough you can read them - they are a bit of fun.

September and Spring also herald the start of our summer hours - we are now open seven days a week - 10am-5.30 pm weekdays, 10am-4pm Saturdays and 11am-4pm Sundays.

Minerva is bursting with new treasures. The 2020 diaries and calendars are now on display - from the ever popular William Morris and The Reading Woman to some new titles including the lovely Antique Quilts calendar. We have listed more than 50 so far and you can click here to go straight to these.

We have the French publisher Quiltmania's latest offerings in store. The new issue (number 18) of Simply Moderne is now here along with Karen Styles' new book Seams Like Yesterday. Rachael Daisy recently toured, teaching classes in Palmerston North, Christchurch and Auckland. We have her latest book Whizz Bang. For Japanese magic, check out Pieces of my Life - an exquisite collection of indigo pieced quilts from this master. And for medallion style quilts inspired by antique quilts, Susan Smith's Quilts: Somewhere in the Middle has 16 patterns - something for all tastes.

Our range of boutique magazines has broadened with the arrival of some interesting new titles. The Maker's Atelier is a new magazine with stylish patterns. Foodies will be interested to checkout The Gourmand while gardeners will be interested in The Plant. We have new airfreight-speeded issues of Selvedge and the new issue of Simply Moderne has just arrived in store.

We have a new range of Corinne LaPierre felt kits - the 13 kits that make up the 12 Days of Christmas collection are keeping some stitchers busy - and her sewing accessory kits are truly lovely. We also have some Nancy Nicholson felt kits - Folk dolls, and several sewing accessories.

Our customers tell us we have the best cards in Wellington - they are carefully selected from small - and not so small - publishers all over the world. We have loaded a few of the humorous cards on the website here but we have hundreds more so for the full experience, do pop in when you are passing and check them out! Just in store are a new range of extraordinary pop-up cards and a new range of Italian stationery.
